CASTINE – Midshipman 2/C Donald Mahoney of Carmel was awarded the Lester R. Paton Navy Leadership Sword at an April ceremony at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine. Mahoney, Class of 2004, was commended for his commitment to community and collegiate service at the school.

CASTINE – Midshipman 2/C Donald Mahoney of Carmel was awarded the Lester R. Paton Navy Leadership Sword at an April ceremony at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine.

Mahoney, Class of 2004, was commended for his commitment to community and collegiate service at the school.

The Paton Leadership Endowment was established by Richard Paton, MMA Class of 1966, in memory of Lester Paton, U.S. Navy Reserves, and the Class of 1966.

The purpose of the award is to encourage and promote leadership, patriotism, valor, honor, confidence, humanitarian service and fidelity.
