Kostis voted into Maine Golf Hall of Fame

Sanford native Peter Kostis, a golf analyst with CBS-TV, will be the lone inductee into the Maine Golf Hall of Fame on Sept. 12.

Kostis began his golf career as an assistant at Cape Arundel Golf Club in Kennebunkport, was a member of the Golf Digest magazine prfessional panel for 22 years, and was head instructor for the magazine’s schools from 1978 to 1987.

He has been an analyst with CBS-TV and USA Network-TV since 1990, and he is currently director of Kostis/McCord Learning Center in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The golf hall’s 10th anniversary celebration will include a reception and banquet starting at 5 p.m. at the South Portland Marriott Hotel on Running Hill Road near the Maine Mall as well as a golf tournament at Sable Oaks Golf Club at 11 a.m.
