BANGOR – The Bangor Lumberjacks continue to shape their roster and personnel list as the 2003 Northeast League baseball season approaches.

Bangor has “rehired” pitching coach Kevin Pincavitch, who served as the pitching coach for Adirondack (N.Y.) last season. This year, however, the 32-year-old righthander will also pitch.

Pincavitch, a Pennsylvania native and resident, signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers as a non-drafted free agent in 1992, was released in 1997, and spent the next five years as a pitching in the NEL. His best season was in 1999, when he went 10-5 with a 3.33 ERA and 97 strikeouts in 133 2/3 innings for the New Jersey Jackals.

Portland 13, New Haven 3

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The Portland Sea Dogs scored 10 runs in the final three innings to trounce the New Haven Ravens 13-3 on Friday in the Eastern League.

Raul Nieves and Justin Headley had RBI singles in the seventh inning to help the Sea Dogs (13-12) break open a 3-3 game. Portland had four runs in the seventh inning against the Ravens bullpen.

Kevin Haverbusch and Tonayne Brown had two-run doubles as Portland added five more in the ninth.

New Haven (12-11) has lost a season-high three games in a row.

Jason Arnold allowed three runs in the first inning for the Ravens, including a two-run homer by Justin Sherrod. He settled down and didn’t allow a run over his final 5 1/3 innings before reaching his pitch count.

Junior Herndon (1-1) allowed nine hits in six innings, but still earned the victory.
