Mattanawcook edges Dexter for 5th victory

LINCOLN – Brian Dupuis’ run-scoring double with two outs in the fourth inning broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx to a 3-2 high school baseball win over the Dexter Tigers Monday.

Winner Steven Whitney allowed went the distance, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out eight.

Nathan Cousineau had two singles for Mattanawcook and Matt Malone had an RBI single.

Adam Russell had two singles and an RBI for Dexter, Mike Martin had an RBI single and Eric Day pitched an eight-hitter with three strikeouts and a walk.

Bucksport 13, Hermon 1

At Bucksport, Josh Jackson doubled and singled with three RBIs to help Bucksport win.

Travis Pelletier hit two singles with a RBI for the Golden Bucks and Phil Harvey singled with two RBIs.

Jason Shorey hit a RBI single for Hermon and Joey Schacht singled and scored a run.

At Millinocket, Ian Johnson and Adam Qualey combined on a five-hitter and Ryan Bouchard had four hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs to pace Stearns’ attack.

Dave Michaud doubled for the winners and Craig Cullen had an RBI single.

Dylan Johnson had two singles for Sumner of East Sullivan.

At Corinth, Drew Mercier hit a solo home run and two singles with two RBIs to power Searsport.

Jerod Kronholm hit three singles with three RBIs for the Vikings. Mike Adams had two singles with a RBI and Spencer Garton doubled.

Tristan Strout hit a solo home run for Central and Tom Palmer doubled and singled with a RBI.

Mount View 2, Rockland 1

At Thorndike, a throwing error and a Kenton Spaulding RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh scored the tying and winning runs for the Mount View Mustangs.

Jeff Philbrook led the offensive with two singles and a run. Shane Eddy pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Rockland’s Adam Ross also had a three-hitter (six strikeouts, two walks) and led the offense with a triple, single, and RBI.

At Pittsfield, Eric Lopez allowed no runs and only four hits while striking out four to shut out Maine Central Institute.

Rick Zigue doubled and singled and scored two runs for Winlsow.

Jake Lasselle gave up no earned runs and three hits while striking out four for MCI. He singled twice.

Piscataquis 14, Lee Academy 1

At Lee, Darin Spack hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning to lead the Pirates.

Tyler Tracy had a three-run triple for the Pirates of Guilford. Darin Macomber and Mike Burnett each hit a pair of doubles.

Jeremy Ham had a RBI double for Lee Academy.

John Bapst sweeps Orono

At Orono, Cole McElwain gave up only two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out 12 to lead John Bapst of Bangor to the 4-2 win in the first game.

The Crusaders won the second game 7-3 for the sweep.

In the first game, Pat Healy hit two singles and knocked in the game-winning run for John Bapst.

Brian Tyne and Dylan Huckestein each hit a pair of singles for Orono.

In the second game, Healy had two singles, two runs, and three stolen bases for the Crusaders and George Keefe hit a RBI double.

Kyle Spinney hit a single with a RBI and scored a run for Orono.
