Written in her still firm longhand, the annual letter from Anna Waring describing the next Y-Players production is always a delight to receive.
“Our show, this year, is about the Gay ’90s,” she wrote, “quite appropriate for me as I have finally reached that important landmark, having been born in 1912.
“I love the costumes and the music in this show. I can remember playing them and singing those old songs way back then.”
Waring reports that director “Pam Martin has worked especially hard on this one, finding authentic music and appropriate costumes for this era.”
Martin and some of the cast “have made beautiful dresses and hats for the first act, with bustles and leg-of-mutton sleeves!”
And, in the second act, they will be wearing old-fashioned bathing suits.
Act I is “In the Park,” and Act 11 is “On the Boardwalk.”
The cast members “make the sets, get the props and pay all costs involved,” Waring added.
Asking only donations at the door, last year the Y-Players took in $3,000.
