A Bangor man was arrested after allegedly making racial taunts and threats to his roommate Monday.

Bangor police Officer Chris Blanchard said he went to a Broadway apartment at about 1 p.m. on a “person wanted out” complaint. When he arrived, he met Robert Albertson, 39, who said he wanted his roommate out because he didn’t like him. Blanchard said Albertson smelled of intoxicants. He explained that he couldn’t ask anyone to leave without a crime being committed.

When Blanchard asked the roommate if there were any problems, the man, who is black, said, “Yes, he has been calling me ‘nigger’ all day. He then picked up his knife and said I would not make it through the night, while pointing it at me.”

Blanchard said Albertson admitted it was true. The roommate told Blanchard he felt fear for his life.

Blanchard arrested Albertson for criminal threatening and took him to Penobscot County Jail.

Brewer police charged a man with charging nearly $500 on another man’s credit card Monday evening.

Sgt. Jason Moffitt said a Kenduskeag man complained of several fraudulent charges on his credit card bill, four of which were made in Brewer. The charges were traced to a room at the Wilson Street Motel, where Colin McNally, 37, an associate of the complainant, lived.

Moffitt said he spoke with McNally on Monday night, confronting him with a voice recording from one of the telephone transactions he allegedly had made on the other man’s credit card. Moffitt said McNally admitted making the calls.

McNally was summoned for misuse of credit identification.
