JOEY DEWITT
Dewitt, a senior on the Ellsworth track team, won the 800 and 2-mile runs at a multi-team track meet Monday in Bangor. Bangor ran the 800 in a time of 2:04 and came back to complete the 2-mile run in 10:15.
Small School (Classes C-D)
SOUTHERN AROOSTOOK PITCHING STAFF
Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook pitchers Adam Anderson, a freshman, senior Corey Shields, senior Corey Edkins, sophomore Jeff Boutilier and freshman Rusty Toothaker combined to toss back-to-back no-hitters on consecutive days. The Warriors’ Boutilier, Anderson and Toothaker combined to no-hit Limestone in a 22-0 win on Monday. Anderson, Shields and Edkins came back on Tuesday to hold Fort Kent hitless in an 11-0 win.
GIRLS
Big School (Classes A-B)
MONICA HUSSEY
Hussey, a sophomore pitcher for the Old Town softball team, threw a no-hitter against Nokomis Thursday. Hussey struck out 12, allowed one unearned run, and walked six. She also hit two singles and a double with two RBIs in a win over Presque Isle Saturday.
Small School (Classes C-D)
ERIN FOSTER
The Hodgdon junior went 11-for-15 from the plate with a double, two triples, 12 runs and 20 RBIs in a 3-1 week for the Hawks. Foster, a shortstop, did not commit an error.
