A Topsham woman received medical treatment Wednesday morning after her car rolled over several times on Interstate 95 in Palmyra.

Maine State Trooper Bernie Brunette said he was called to the scene at about 8 a.m. He said Kimberley Adams, 20, was traveling north on I-95 when her car drifted about 12 feet into the median strip. It went about 100 yards on the grass before Adams turned it back onto the highway.

Brunette said Adams overcorrected, causing her white Pontiac sedan to roll several times, stopping upright on the right side of the road. Adams was able to leave the car through the back door.

Brunette said Adams complained of head and neck pain and minor cuts. Sebasticook Valley Ambulance took her to Sebasticook Valley Hospital, assisted by Newport Fire Department.

“She’s very lucky,” he said, adding that there was no doubt in his mind Adams would have been thrown from the vehicle and seriously injured or killed if she hadn’t been wearing a seat belt. “She was definitely smart to have it on.”

Old Town police said they arrested a man early Wednesday after he pushed his girlfriend.

Officer Tom Adams said he was on Main Street at about 2:45 a.m. when he saw a man, later identified as Steve Pedersen, 22, of Orono yelling at a woman on the sidewalk. Adams said Pedersen pushed her down. He then stood over her and yelled, “Why the [expletive] did you do that?”

Adams said Pedersen turned as he approached and took his jacket off. Not knowing what Pedersen meant to do, Adams ordered him to kneel on the ground. When Pedersen refused, Adams told him to turn around and then handcuffed him.

The woman told Adams she knocked Pedersen’s cigarette out of his mouth because she didn’t like him smoking. She said this led him to push her. Adams arrested Pedersen for assault and disorderly conduct.

A 1996 Honda Accord went missing in Bangor on Wednesday morning.

Bangor police Officer Chris Blanchard said a Mount Desert Drive man called just before 7:30 a.m. saying his car was gone. He had parked it unlocked at his house Tuesday night.

Blanchard said other Hondas of the same model and year have been stolen in the last several weeks. There were no witnesses.

More than $500 worth of sports gear and furniture was stolen Monday from a front porch in Bangor.

Bangor police Officer Josh Ouellette said a Fountain Street woman called Tuesday evening saying items left on the porch at about 8 a.m. Monday were missing at 2:15 that afternoon. She said wet suits, water shoes, life vests, two chairs and a basketball were missing.
