NEWPORT – Senior lefthander Chad Gomm allowed only three hits and struck out 15 to lead Brewer to a 4-1 victory over Nokomis and a sweep of their doubleheader in high school baseball action Saturday.
Gomm issued only one walk and the Nokomis run was unearned. The Witches won the second game 11-3.
In the first game, Zac Bouzan-Kaloustian doubled and singled with a RBI for Brewer. Kevin McAvoy hit two singles and Justin Hardy had a RBI single.
Justin Nichols had a triple and a single for Nokomis. Seth Bradstreet hit a pair of singles with a RBI and Alex Sawyer doubled and singled.
In the second game, McAvoy and Hardy each had a RBI single for the Witches and Bouzan-Kaloustian doubled.
Mike Jacques had a double and a single for the Warriors and Brendon Donaldson singled.

At Lee, Eric Day held the Pandas scoreless to give the Tigers a 3-0 win in the second game. The Pandas took the first game 5-1.
In the first game, Jeremy Ham hit a double and a single and scored two runs for Lee.
Adam Russell hit a RBI single in the first inning for Dexter. Day singled and stole two bases.
In the second game, Kyle Stone hit a pair of singles and scored two runs for Dexter and Adam Russell singled with a RBI.
Tyler Thompson had two singles for the Pandas and Cory Bowker doubled.

At Old Town, Joey Guerrette reached on an error and scored on an Andy Pease fielder’s choice in the bottom of the seventh to provide the winning run for the Indians.
Chris Rand singled and scored on an error in the seventh to tie the game. Brady Goody and Guerrette each added a single for the Indians. Mike Russell won a pitchers’ duel, allowing just two hits in the first inning, striking out four and walking none.
Eric Libby singled and scored on a Kyle Dalton double in the first. Chris Pease earned the loss despite allowing three hits and striking out six.

In the first game, Steve Lamant hit a pair of singles with four RBIs for Penquis. Brett Gerrish hit two singles with two RBIs and Justin Allen had two singles.
Brody Artes and Garrett Lavertu each had a RBI single for Penobscot Valley.
In the second game, Matt Osborn tripled and singled to knock in a run for the Howlers. Garrett Lavertu hit two singles and Josh Ireland and Andrew Hallett both had a RBI single.

Greenville sweeps Rangeley
At Greenville, Anthony Lavigne gave up only one earned run, three hits, and two walks while striking out 13 to lead the Lakers to the 7-6 win in the second game. Greenville also took the first game 10-2.
In the first game, Scott Lavigne hit a two-run homer in the first inning for Greenville. Dan Campbell had three singles and scored three runs and Griz Aucoin hit a double and two singles.
In the second game, Scott Lavigne tripled and doubled with three RBIs for the Lakers and Griz Aucoin had a two-run single.
Tyler Philbrick had three singles with two RBIs and scored two runs for Rangeley.

At Lee, Sarah Wyman smacked a three-run homer and added two singles to finish with six RBIs as the Tigers beat the Pandas 17-4 in the first game of a doubleheader. Dexter won the second game 24-8.
In the first game, Sarah Carnes gave up just four hits while striking out 10 and walking four. Nikki Chapman drove in four runs on a double and a single. Ashley Foster singled twice, double and had an RBI.
Jessie Kuester led Lee with two RBIs and two singles.
In the second game, Dexter’s Cindy Koscielny knocked in four runs on a three-run homer, a double and a single. Foster hit three singles and added three RBIs. Christy McGowen singled twice and had two RBIs.
Marci Moors drove in two runs and hit two singles for the Pandas. Kristen Hersom contributed an RBI double.

At Newport, Danielle Clark smacked a bases-loaded triple in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Warriors rallied past the Witches 9-7 in the second game of a doubleheader. Brewer took the first game 11-3.
In the first game, Carolyn McAvoy hit a solo home run and singled twice for the Witches. Vanessa Michaud doubled and hit an RBI single. Sarah DeFilipp and Christine Thoms each recorded an RBI single and Amy Freeman doubled.
Aimee Paradis tripled and singled for the Warriors.
In the second game, Michelle Murray hit three singles and Paradis contributed a triple and a single for Nokomis.
The Witches pounded out nine extra-base hits. McAvoy hit two triples and an RBI single. Emily McLaughlin had an RBI triple. Amy Freeman tripled and singled. Anna Corey and Rachel Wing each hit a triple.
