MANSFIELD, Conn. – Tom Jachimczyk’s two-out RBI single in the seventh broke a tie and carried the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth to 6-5 baseball victory in a Little East Conference elimination game Saturday afternoon.

South Paris’ Colin Loveless led the Huskies by going 4-for-4 with four singles and two RBIs. Adam Lemieux of Cumberland had two doubles and a single.

Coast Guard eliminates USM

At Springfield, Mass., the Bears rallied from a one-run deficit to edge the Huskies 3-2 in a Saturday afternoon elimination game of the ECAC Division III New England Softball Championship tourney at Springfield College.

Springfield College beat Southern Maine 3-2 in a first-round game Saturday morning.

In the first game, Springfield’s Lori Baumann scored the winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Pride. Caterina Riitano had an RBI double for the Huskies. Kristen Tong and Renee Heath each singled twice.

In the second game, Adrian Harris hit an RBI single to score the winning run for the Coast Guard. USM’s Sarah McLean doubled twice.
