3 River City concerts promise fun for audience

The new River City Concert Series, reports Cindy Brooks-Bastide, is the creation of a group of Bangor area musicians.

“Many are members of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra and other large ensembles, and all are friends who play together in various, smaller groups,” she wrote.

The home for the new series of three concerts will be the Union Street Brick Church in Bangor.

“We want to provide live performances to the broadest possible audience,” Brooks-Bastide added. “We hope to create a fun, relaxed atmosphere that will allow for a real connection between the audience and the performers.”

The first of the River City Concert Series is 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 16, and features pianist-composer Paul Sullivan, whose music brings to life the beautiful sights and sounds of Maine.

The River City Salon Orchestra will take you down an American musical memory lane at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 6.

Orchestra members are Brooks-Bastide, Ellie Shufro, Chris Fredenburg, Patricia Eames, Curt Brossmer, Susan Heath, Fred Heath, Jim Adams and John Haskell.

Brossmer is a member of the quintet with Al Graffam, Steve Norris, John Wheeler and Paul Greenstone.

Tickets are $5 for general admission, $4 for seniors and students.
