Guiou pitches Fort Fairfield to two wins

FORT FAIRFIELD – Brittany Guiou pitched the Tigers to softball wins Thursday afternoon over Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook and Van Buren.

In the first game, Guiou tossed a one hitter and drove in three runs with two triples and a single as the Tigers rolled past the Crusaders 12-0.

Brooke McCrum had a double, single and two RBI and Libby Gardner drove in a run with a a single.

Amy Vallencourt’s first inning single was Van Buren’s only hit.

In the second game, Melissa Bubar scored on an infield error in the bottom of the sixth as the Tigers edged Southern Aroostook 7-6.

Courtney Burns had two singles and Dani Searles had a double and two RBI for Fort Fairfield.

Chrstine Lawlor had a single and an RBI for Southern Aroostook.

At Houlton, Danielle Kelly and Holly Burtchell each hit an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to help the Eagles edge the Panthers of Mars Hill.

Kia Faulkner finished with two singles and a double for Greater Houlton Christian Academy. Kelly added a three-run triple.

Jen Donahue had an RBI triple and Andi Long had an RBI single for Central Aroostook.

At Houlton Wednesday night, Rebecca Skehan drove in five runs with two triples a single to power the Shiretowners.

Kasey Cleary chipped in with five singles and three RBIs for the winners and Anna Lenintine added a triple, two singles and four RBIs.

Amy Bouchard singled twice and drove in two runs for Caribou and Makayla Gahagan added two singles and an RBI.

Pioneers sweep Owls

At Madawaska, Wisdom of St. Agatha took two one-run games from Madawaska, 11-10 in the first game and 18-17 in the second.

In the first game, Robyn Dyment doubled twice and knocked in two runs for the Pioneers.

Heidi Deprey smacked an RBI double in the midst of a three-run seventh for the winners.

Erin Pelletier had a single, double and two RBIs for the Owls and Beth Gerard singled and plated a run.

In the second game, Christa Lizotte collected three singles and an RBI for Wisdom.

Cindy Chamberlain added a double and a single.

Rose Lindono smacked a two-run homer and a double for the Owls, totaling four RBIs.

At Danforth, Naomi Chander had a home run, three singles and two runs batted in as the Royalettes rolled past the Vikings.

Sara Hunkler had a triple, single and drove in four runs, Starr Look doubled and had two singles and three RBIs and Jody Pinkham doubled, had two singles and drove in two runs for Jonesport-Beals.

Chantell Parker had a single in the first inning for East Grand.

At Presque Isle, Danielle Grenier tossed a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no walks as the ‘Cats blanked the Warriors.

Lauren Wildeman had a two-run double to lead the offense for Presque Isle.

At Calais, Jamie Doliber hit a triple and a single for three RBIs to help give Calais the edge over Lee Academy.

Jessica Whittaker had an RBI on a double and a single while Alyssa Thomas and Chrissy Driscoll added two singles apiece.

Samantha Cole had two doubles and a single for and RBI while Jessie Kuester hit three singles for an RBI. Jackie Moors sent home two runners on a triple and a single.

At Belfast, Melissa Gray had two singles as well as an RBI in the bottom of the eighth inning to send home Morgan Crandall and give Belfast the win.

Crandall added a triple and a double while Danielle Mayer and Angela Marden each had two-run hits in the fourth inning.

Karla Emerson hit a single and a double for Erskine while Brittany Oxley chipped in with an RBI double. Kellie Gerard helped out with a triple.

Caribou 7, Houlton 6

At Houlton, Griffin St. Peter singled and eventually scored on an error in the eighth inning to lift the Vikings to victory.

St. Peter also pitched three innings in relief to get the win. Eric Dickinson and John Holabird each rapped two singles for Caribou.

The Shiretowners had forced extra innings with two runs in the seventh, including a clutch, two-out RBI single by freshman Corey Lewis. Jon Weston doubled and singled and Andy Brown singled twice.

At Madawaska, the Owls took advantage of 11 walks and two hit batsmen in cruising past the Pioneers.

Bill Roy had a triple and an RBI, while Eric Gendreau singled and drove in two runs and Steve Guerrette plated a run with a single.

Chris Pelletier had a triple and an RBI for Wisdom of St. Agatha.

At Van Buren, Dustin Cyr smashed a three-run homer to go with an RBI single as the Crusaders rolled.

Tyler Hews knocked in three runs on a double and two singles for Van Buren. Andrew Martin doubled, singled and drove one in.

Jake Manner and Jason Fontaine singled for the Eagles.

At Presque Isle, R.J. Gagnon, his cousin Kyle Gagnon and Chad Lavway teamed up on a one-hitter as Presque Isle triumphed. They struck out 11 and walked two.

Cole Putnam had two singles and three RBIs for Presque Isle while the Gagnons each had two singles and an RBI. Joe Monahan doubled.

Jared Boucher’s second-inning single was Fort Kent’s only hit.

Jeff Burditt led the Tigers with two singles.

At Rockland, Adam Ross’ single to right plated Josh Davis in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Tigers past the Black Raiders.

Davis had walked and later went to second on a Wade Oliver infield single. Ross finished with two singles and two RBIs while striking out 13 and walking three in a complete-game effort. Oliver and Mike Curtis each hit two singles. Justin Kirk doubles and drove in two runs.

Taylor Helberg powered Winslow with two home runs and a single for three RBIs. Ricky Vigue and Dave Hamann each added a double.

At Belfast, John Ellis’ third inning grand slam helped the Lions jump out to a 9-0 as they rolled past the Eagles.

Jamie Potvin and Jesse Johnson had a double and run batted in apiece while Nick Faulkingham allowed four hits and struck out eight for Belfast.

Jason Hitchinson and Justin Smith doubled and had an RBI for Erskine Academy of South China.
