CALAIS – Calais High School has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2003. Commencement exercises will be held Sunday, May 25.

Crystal Martin, daughter of Alton and Mona Martin of Calais, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2003. She has plans to attend Husson College or Suffolk University.

She has participated in basketball and soccer and has been the student council vice president, National Honor Society president, and civil rights treasurer. She was selected as DAC Soccer All-Star; DAC Basketball All-Star, All-State Honorable Mention in the Bangor Daily News and Portland Press Herald for basketball, and the All-Eastern Maine All-Star in soccer.

She received the Daniel Webster Book Award and the University of Rochester Humanities and Science Award, and she was Miss Maine Teen Queen.

Kirstin Underwood, daughter of James Underwood and Nancy Power-Underwood of Perry, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2003. She will attend Hartwick College.

She participated in cross country and soccer and was on the yearbook staff, Boomerang, civil rights team, jazz band and drama club. She received the 7 Sisters Book Award, Bausch & Lomb Science Award and Washington County Writing Symposium Award.
