SEARSPORT – Principal Gregg Palmer has announced the honor parts for the 2003 graduating class at Searsport District High School.
Nicole Zito, daughter of Cynthia and Francis Zito of Searsport, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2003.
She was a member of National Honor Society her sophomore, junior and senior years, maintaining high honors all four years. She was selected for National Junior Honor Society her freshman year. She was in Who’s Who Among American High School Students her sophomore, junior and senior years; received a Society of Women Engineers’ Certificate of Achievement her junior year. She was in student leadership her sophomore, junior and senior years, as well as student council, twice holding the positions of secretary and was president her junior year.
She was a Dirigo Girls State delegate her junior year. She was involved in theater as a light technician for middle school plays her junior year and was music, light and sound technician for elementary theater during her freshman and sophomore years. She participated in band and chorus all four years, including pep band and marching band, student conductor, her sophomore, junior and senior years, youth choir and flute performances, and band vice president her senior year.
She played varsity soccer all four years and ran varsity track her freshman and sophomore years. She volunteered at a nursing home and at an animal shelter her freshman and sophomore years.
Pauline Vasiliauskas, daughter of Mary and Michael Vasiliauskas of Searsport, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2003.
She was given the Maine Principals’ Association Award her senior year and has been a member of National Honor Society and on the National Honor Roll her junior and senior years. She was in Who’s Who Among American High School Students her sophomore, junior and senior years. She has been a member of Peer Helpers and Peer Leadership all four years as well as the civil rights team her senior year. She was in the band and jazz band all four years, receiving a National Band Merit Award her junior year.
She earned her varsity letters four years each in basketball, cross country and track and field. She served as captain on all three teams, going to state contests in cross country and track and field. She served as co-editor on the newspaper staff her senior year.
