DOVER-FOXCROFT – Junior lefthander Josh Withee of the Foxcroft Academy Ponies accomplished a rare feat Saturday when he recorded a perfect game against the Caribou Vikings for a 3-0 win in the first game of schoolboy baseball doubleheader Saturday.

Withee struck out 14 of 21 batters and his defense did the rest for the milestone.

The Ponies came from behind to win the second game 9-8.

In the first game, Danny White had an RBI triple for Foxcroft Academy. Jason Weymouth tripled and scored a run. Adam Conway hit a double and a sacrifice fly and scored a run and Jason Pelletier hit a RBI single.

In the second game, Shawn Grass scored the game-winning run for the Ponies in the bottom of the seventh inning when Caribou took a force-out at second and Grass scored.

Caleb Pelletier knocked in the winning run and he tripled and singled with three RBIs. Brandon Croan had two singles with three RBIs and Jason Weymouth had a triple and a single with a RBI. Withee tripled and singled and Danny White hit a pair of singles with an RBI. Ethan Annis hit two singles.

Justin Selfridge had two doubles and a single with two RBIs for Caribou. John Chasse hit two singles with two RBIs and Corey Johnston had a RBI double. Andrew Cashman doubled and scored a run.

At Ellsworth, Jon Hunnewell’s two-run single keyed a four-run third inning when the Eagles took control of the game.

Hunnewell finished the game with three RBIs, Nick Putnam had two singles and Asa Jones drove in a run with a triple.

Nate Ellis doubled and drove in a run and Ron Lane collected an RBI on a single.

Bapst, Presque Isle split

At the Winkin Complex in Bangor, the visiting Wildcats got a clutch hit in the seventh to edge John Bapst 5-4 in the first game and then Bapst used a three-run inning to key a 5-1 victory in the second.

In the first game, Chad Lavway drew a one-out walk, stole second, and then scored on a throwing error to provide the winning run for PI.

R.J. Gagnon had a double, a single and an RBI for the Wildcats. Brian Roach had two singles for the Crusaders.

In the second game, Alex Means threw a five-hitter and had a triple and two singles to lead the Crusaders.

Dan Leighton hit a two-run double in the third and had three RBIs. Pat Healy singled twice. Lavway singled twice for PI.

Mattanawcook sweeps PVHS

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Andy McLellan hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning of the second game to lead Mattanawcook to the 15-0 win. The Lynx of Lincoln also took the first game 10-0.

In the first game, McLellan hit three singles with three RBIs for Mattanawcook. Andrew Kites doubled and singled and had an RBI and Tyler Libbey had two singles.

Josh Ireland and Nick Ware each singled for Penobscot Valley.

In the second game, Tyler Gardner and Steven Whitney both hit two singles to knock in four runs for the Lynx. Kites had three singles with a RBI and Nathan Cousineau hit a pair of singles with two RBIs.

Matt Cummings hit two singles for Penobscot Valley.

At East Millinocket, Aaron Waite scattered six hits over seven innings, struck out nine batters, and walked none to help lead Schenck to the win over Penquis of Milo.

Tom Germane paced Penquis with a double, single and RBI and Jordan Allen singled twice.

DI-Stonington sweeps Katahdin

At Brewer, Evan Haskell and Jeff Douglas combined to shut out Katahdin in a doubleheader, 26-0 and 13-0.

In the first game Haskell pitched a five-inning shutout and added two singles and a double as the Mariners sailed past Katahdin.

Ian Martin notched three singles and an RBI for the winners. Nick Ciomei tripled, singled and knocked in a run, Josh Eaton singled three times, doubled and plated two runs, Joe Trundy connected for two singles and two RBIs, and Lance Ciomei added two singles.

Pat Willett hit two singles for the Cougars of Sherman Station.

In the second game, Douglas tossed a one-hitter, while striking out eight and walking two.

Anthony Barbato had a double and a single, Trundy had three singles and two RBI and Chris Gray drove in three runs on a double and a single.

Cam Cunningham had a single in the third inning for Katahdin.

At Ellsworth, Krystal Roberts had two triples, a single, and drove in five runs in the Eagles’ win over the Hawks.

In the second game, Barker belted a two-run triple in the three-run first inning to aid her cause.

Barker also had a single; Jessica Norwood doubled and singled and drove in two runs and Jaime Daugherty singled twice.

Baylee Cherkis doubled and Michelle Benoit singled for the Red Riots.

In the first game, MDI unleashed a 16-hit attack led by Barker’s triple, double and two singles and Abbie Chapman’s double and three singles.

Caroline Woodworth and Stephanie Shuster chipped in with two singles each.,

At Dyer Brook, Kara Hartman pitched her first no-hitter of the season to give Bangor Christian the win. She struck out 12 and allowed only two walks. Hartman has 130 strikeouts in 11 starts.

Hartman singled twice, scored three runs, and knocked in two for Bangor Christian. Danielle Miller hit a double and two singles with two RBIs, and Gabby Eastman singled to drive in four runs.

Bapst sweeps Presque Isle

At Husson College in Bangor, the host Crusaders rallied from a 5-3 deficit by tallying five runs in the sixth inning to take the first game of a doubleheader with Presque Isle 8-5. John Bapst won the nightcap 18-9.

In the first game, Heather Laferriere led off the sixth with a single, then was doubled home by Rebecca Stevens, one of two doubles and two RBIs in the opener for her. After Ashley Cluff scored Stevens with a single, Megan Brown doubled, putting runners on second and third. Kim Meagher and Julia Sleeper hit back-to-back doubles to cap the scoring.

Bailly Horey led the way for the Wildcats with two doubles, two singles, and two RBIs.

In the second game, Stevens doubled three times and knocked in two runs.

Brown racked up three singles and a double and knocked in a run for John Bapst, and Meagher singled four times and drove in a pair.

Shawna Nedeau led Presque Isle’s attack with four singles and an RBI. Hovey laced an RBI double, and Abby Hamel doubled, singled, and plated a run.

Caribou sweeps Foxcroft

At Dover-Foxcroft, Makayla Gahagan hit four singles and knocked in three runs to lead Caribou to a 25-13 win in the second game. The Vikings won the first game 17-15.

In the first game, Gahagan doubled and singled to drive in two runs for the Vikings. Amy Bouchard hit an RBI single, and Billie Martin singled.

Coral Goggin hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning for the Ponies. Ashley Hall tripled and singled with three RBIs, and Leigh Cartwright had a double and two singles with two RBIs.

In the second game, Bouchard had two triples and a single with three RBIs, and Martin had a triple and two singles with two RBIs for Caribou.

Leigh Cartwright hit a three-run home run in the second inning for Foxcroft. Lauren Snow tripled and singled with two RBIs, and Randi Kennedy hit four singles.

At Hampden, Heidi Baker hit a triple, double, and a single with four RBIs in both games to help Bangor to 6-3 and 14-3 wins.

In the first game, Kelly White and Steph Chase each had a double and a single with two RBIs for Bangor and Meghan Chase hit two singles.

Evon Hudsteth doubled and singled for Hampden as Erika Veinote and Emily Thompson each had an RBI single.

In the second game, Hannah Whitney hit a double and two singles to knock in a run for the Rams and Megan McCrum hit three singles with two RBIs. Kate Turner tripled and singled.

At Brewer’s Coffin Field, Sarah DeFilipp fired a one-hitter in the opener and Jamie Gomm spaced six hits in the nightcap as Brewer extended its winning streak to four games.

In the first game, DeFilipp gave up a leadoff triple to Jill Ouellette and no-hit the Indians the rest of the way.

She struck out six and didn’t walk anybody.

Brewer broke a scoreless tie in the fifth by scoring four times despite mustering just one hit, a single by Vanessa Michaud.

Emily McLaughlin doubled and singled for Brewer and Michaud had two singles.

In the second game, Amy Freeman’s two-run double and RBI singles by Rachel Wing, Anna Corey and Bekka York highlighted a decisive five-run fifth inning.

Carolyn McAvoy tripled and singled for Brewer and McLaughlin doubled and singled and drove in a run.

Ouellette’s two singles and Alicia Day’s RBI single led Old Town.

Fort Fairfield, Houlton split

At Fort Fairfield, Libby Gardner’s bases-loaded bunt in the eighth gave Fort Fairfield a 4-3 victory in the first game, but Houlton earned a split of their doubleheader by winning the second game 12-11.

In the first game, Maranda Butler scored the winning run for the Tigers as she led off with a single and moved up on a Brooke McCrum single and Britney Guiou walk.

McCrum finished with two singles and an RBI to pace the Tigers. Val Lenentine singled twice for Houlton, and Rebecca Skehan added an RBI single.

Natasha Ritchie was the hard-luck loser as she allowed only five hits while striking out 13.

In the second game, Rebecca Lenentine paced Houlton with three singles and two RBIs, and Val Lenentine added three singles. Ritchie doubled and singled.

Butler slammed an RBI triple for the Tigers.
