Bangor pitchers 1-hit PI twice

PRESQUE ISLE – Josh Young fired a one-hitter in the opener and Steve Fergerson scattered seven hits in the nightcap as Bangor swept, extending its winning streak to seven games.

The Rams won both games 10-0.

In the first game, Young struck out 12 and didn’t walk anybody. He drove in the only run he was to need with a first-inning single.

Nick Larochelle had a double and two singles and drove in two runs for the Rams; Brian Hackett had two doubles and an RBI; Young drove in two runs with a double and a single and Jordan Heath had two singles and an RBI.

Jeremy Dickinson’s fourth-inning single was Presque Isle’s only hit.

In the second game, Fergerson struck out three and didn’t walk anybody and the Rams erupted for six, two-out runs in the second inning.

Hackett’s two-run double and RBI singles by Heath, Larochelle and Young keyed the rally.

Hackett had two more doubles; Nate Hall tripled and singled and drove in two runs; and Heath had two singles and an RBI.

Joe Monahan singled twice for Presque Isle.

At Howland, Mike Burnett allowed two runs, scattering four hits and striking out nine to lead Piscataquis to the win.

Josh Luellen had a single and a double with two RBIs while Steve Overlock added two singles and an RBI. Tyler Tracey singled three times while Joe Jardine chipped in with two singles for the Pirates of Guilford.

Joey Cyr led the Penobscot Valley effort with a single, a double and an RBI.

At Milo, Matt Leino had a single, a double and three RBIs to help power Stearns of Millinocket past Penquis.

Adam Qualey hit two doubles for two RBIs while Matt Wark added two singles.

Jordan Allen plated four runners with two doubles and a single while Justin Perkins contributed a single, a double and two RBIs. Colby Chase helped out with two singles.

At East Millinocket, the Lynx rallied for three runs in the seventh with the aid of an error.

Tyler Libbey doubled and singled for Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln and Dylan Hanscom singled twice. Andy McLellan rapped a two-run double behind relief winner Chris Pete.

Drew Fayle led Scheck with two singles and three RBIs. Pat Jamo doubled twice with an RBI and Kyle Pelkey added two singles and an RBI.

Hermon 5, Central 2

At Hermon, Dustin Jalbert had two singles and an RBI to help lead Hermon past Central.

Ron Lane and Josiah Curtis each added an RBI single for the Hawks.

Adam Allen and Tom Palmer hit an RBI single apiece for Central of Corinth.

At Dexter, Adam Russell, Tim McCarthy and Sam Bowers combined on a nine-hitter and Russell and McCarthy had doubles in a four-run third-inning rally that gave Dexter some breathing room.

Russell had a two-run double and McCarthy had a run-scoring double in the third.

It was a makeup game that was played in Dexter but Bangor Christian was the “home” team.

Willy Hinkley had a double and two singles for Bangor Christian, Anthony Cole had a two-run double and Ben Sobey chipped in with two singles.

At Belfast, Silas Ratten recorded two singles and a triple as the Lions knocked off the Raiders.

Paul Herman singled twice and drove in two runs for Belfast. Nick Arthers smacked an RBI double and Jesse Johnson hit two singles.

Jason Guerette singled twice for Oak Hill of Sabattus.

At East Machias, Jared Gray’s three-run home run highlighted a 10-run third that iced the game for the Raiders.

Ryan Harmon hit a two-run single for Washington Academy and James Ramsdell doubled.

Singles by Dylan Johnson, Jay Huber and Mike Manning were the only hits for Sumner of East Sullivan.

At Waldoboro, Mike Dennis scored the eventual winning run in the sixth when he hit a leadoff double, got to third on a Chad Moore flyout, and came home on a passed ball to lift Waterville to victory.

Dennis doubled twice and Jake Willette hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Jeremy Lockhart earned the win with 12 strikeouts in six innings. Ryan Lockhard pitched one inning of relief, striking out two with two runners on base.

Bryan Blackler paced Medomak Valley with two singles and five stolen bases. Sam Adolphsen doubled, singled, drove in two runs and struck out 10.

Bangor sweeps Presque Isle

At Presque Isle, Ram pitchers Kelly White and Jen Dall held the Wildcats to a combined five hits and five runs in a doubleheader. Bangor won the opener 12-2 and took the second game 6-3.

In the first game, Megan McCrum singled twice and drove in a run for the Rams while Meghan Chase singled twice. White scattered four hits.

Shawna Meadow and Kylie Pelletier each doubled for Presque Isle.

In the second game, Dall scattered five hits in the win. McCrum doubled and singled and Jen Wright hit a single.

Presque Isle’s Bailey Hovey doubled.

At Hermon, Shauna Smith pitched a one-hit shutout, striking out seven and walking none to shut down Hermon.

Jenny Rollins hit two singles for Central while Traci Underhill added a triple.

Kristen Hart had a single for Hermon’s lone hit.

At Dexter, Sarah Carnes pitched a two-hit shutout, outdueling Bangor Christian’s Kara Hartman.

Carnes struck out five and walked one for the Tigers. Cindy Koscielny hit an RBI single and Cristy McGowen tripled, while Brittany Veazie and Sarah Wyman each singled.

Hartman struck out 11 and walked three in the loss. Gabby Eastman and Allyssa Libby singled.

At Milo, Dani Graves came out on the winning end of a pitchers’ duel, tossing a two-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk to lead the Patriots.

Amanda Martin of Penquis hit an RBI single in the third inning, driving in Lindsay Ouellette, who had singled.

Katie Jones took the loss for the Minutemen of Millinocket despite giving up just two hits. She struck out eight and walked six. Hilary Arsenault and Jordan Legassey singled.

At East Millinocket, Arrika Knights hit a double and three singles to help pace the Mattanawcook Academy offense.

Kristi McKinnon had a double and a single for the Lynx of Lincoln while Shannon Pietras added two singles.

Jessica Day led Schenck with three singles while Melissa Rideout chipped in with a triple.

At Howland, Tiffany Brown hit a grand slam and a single to power the Howlers past the Pirates of Guilford.

Nancy Hallett pounded out three singles and a triple for Penobscot Valley. Randy Rackley and Michelle Batchelder each doubled and singled. Kacy Foster singled twice.

Heather Woodbury led Piscataquis with a double and two singles. Chelsi Martell and Charley Bradford each hit two doubles.

Nicole Leach led WA with a double, three singles and an RBI. Janay Tucker had two doubles, a single and four RBIs.
