ELLSWORTH – Citizen Corps is looking for volunteers to train in recognizing emergencies and preparing families for disaster.

Learning to deal with catastrophic events, acts of terror, and crime on families and communities will be the focus of the free training.

Citizen Corps provides public education, outreach and the aid of volunteer organizations to those participating in creating safer, stronger communities.

Citizen Corps is coordinated nationally by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and locally by the Hancock County Local Emergency Planning Committee as well as the Hancock County Emergency Management Agency.

Volunteers who do not already belong to an emergency response organization may reach the Hancock County Emergency Management Office at 667-8126 or Rob Gaiser at the Hancock County Citizen Corps at 244-7388 or rgaiser@midmaine.com for information or to register.
