Mayo hospital gets A+

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Mayo Regional Hospital successfully completed a Medicare recertification survey conducted by the Division of Licensing and Certification, state Department of Human Services.

The three-day survey, conducted by a seven-member state team, examined many aspects of hospital departmental operations, staffing plans, the physical plant, governing body and medical staff bylaws, and hospitalwide quality improvement and performance improvement plans.

Mayo received an A-plus performance, according to Mayo CEO Ralph Gabarro.

Gabarro credited the work of the hospital’s Licensure and Accreditation Committee for its leadership in acting as a resource to address the myriad regulatory requirements for which Mayo is accountable. He also cited the medical staff and David McDermott M.D., president, for their active participation in the recertification process. The state survey team acted on behalf of the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in the recertification process. Medicare and Medicaid payments represent 63 percent of the gross revenues received annually by Mayo Regional.
