Shead Tigers sweep Vikings

EASTPORT – The Shead Tigers rallied in the sixth inning, pounding out six RBI singles en route to 10 runs, in a 13-10 come-from-behind victory Monday in the second game of a high school baseball doubleheader. Shead won the opener 15-0.

In the first game, Derek Maloney drove in three runs on a double and two singles, and Josh Francis had three RBIs on a triple and a double. Darrin Constant singled twice.

Darius Parker, Ryan Fish and Micah Barnes each singled for the Vikings of Danforth.

In the second game, Ben Maloney hit three singles and drove in two runs. James Macdonald tripled, singled and had one RBI, while Teddy Cummings singled twice and knocked in a run.

Richard Byers led East Grand with two, two-run triples. Chris Irish drove in three runs on a double and two singles. Scott Flannery singled twice and added an RBI.

At Belfast, Silas Ratten recorded two singles and a triple as the Lions knocked off the Raiders.

Paul Herman singled twice and drove in two runs for Belfast. Nick Arthers smacked an RBI double and Jesse Johnson hit two singles.

Jason Guerette singled twice for Oak Hill of Sabattus.

At East Machias, Jared Gray’s three-run home run highlighted a 10-run third that iced the game for the Raiders.

Ryan Harmon hit a two-run single for Washington Academy and James Ramsdell doubled.

Singles by Dylan Johnson, Jay Huber and Mike Manning were the only hits for Sumner of East Sullivan.

At Harrington, Joe Leighton had a three-run home run, two doubles and drove in six runs in the Knights win over the Royals.

John Fickett had a double, single and three RBIs, while Gabe Checker singled three times and Cory Worcester had two singles for Narraguagus.

Matt Merchant slammed a two-run homer and Jared Alley had a pair of singles for Jonesport-Beals.

At Waldoboro, Mike Dennis scored the eventual winning run in the sixth when he hit a leadoff double, got to third on a Chad Moore flyout, and came home on a passed ball to lift Waterville to victory.

Dennis doubled twice and Jake Willette hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Jeremy Lockhart earned the win with 12 strikeouts in six innings. Ryan Lockhard pitched one inning of relief, striking out two with two runners on base.

Bryan Blackler paced Medomak Valley with two singles and five stolen bases. Sam Adolphsen doubled, singled, drove in two runs and struck out 10.

At Howland, Mike Burnett allowed two runs, scattering four hits and striking out nine to lead Piscataquis to the win.

Josh Luellen had a single and a double with two RBIs while Steve Overlock added two singles and an RBI. Tyler Tracey singled three times while Joe Jardine chipped in with two singles for the Pirates of Guilford.

Joey Cyr led the Penobscot Valley effort with a single, a double and an RBI.

At Milo, Matt Leino had a single, a double and three RBIs to help power Stearns of Millinocket past Penquis.

Jordan Allen plated four runners with two doubles and a single while Justin Perkins contributed a single, a double and two RBIs. Colby Chase helped out with two singles.

At East Millinocket, the Lynx rallied for three runs in the seventh with the aid of an error.

Tyler Libbey doubled and singled for Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln and Dylan Hanscom singled twice. Andy McLellan rapped a two-run double behind relief winner Chris Pete.

Drew Fayle led Scheck with two singles and three RBIs. Pat Jamo doubled twice with an RBI and Kyle Pelkey added two singles and an RBI.

At Hermon, Dustin Jalbert had two singles and an RBI to help lead Hermon past Central.

Ron Lane and Josiah Curtis each added an RBI single for the Hawks.

At Dexter, Adam Russell, Tim McCarthy and Sam Bowers combined on a nine-hitter and Russell and McCarthy had doubles in a four-run third-inning rally that gave Dexter some breathing room.

Russell had a two-run double and McCarthy had a run-scoring double in the third.

It was a makeup game that was played in Dexter but Bangor Christian was the “home” team.

Willy Hinkley had a double and two singles for Bangor Christian, Anthony Cole had a two-run double and Ben Sobey chipped in with two singles.

At Presque Isle, Josh Young fired a one-hitter in the opener and Steve Fergerson scattered seven hits in the nightcap as Bangor swept, extending its winning streak to seven games.

In the first game, Young struck out 12 and didn’t walk anybody. He drove in the only run he was to need with a first-inning single.

Nick Larochelle had a double and two singles and drove in two runs for the Rams; Brian Hackett had two doubles and an RBI; Young drove in two runs with a double and a single and Jordan Heath had two singles and an RBI.

Jeremy Dickinson’s fourth-inning single was Presque Isle’s only hit.

In the second game, Fergerson struck out three and didn’t walk anybody and the Rams erupted for six, two-out runs in the second inning.

Hackett’s two-run double and RBI singles by Heath, Larochelle and Young keyed the rally.

Hackett had two more doubles; Nate Hall tripled and singled and drove in two runs; and Heath had two singles and an RBI.

Joe Monahan singled twice for Presque Isle.

At Eastport, Jamie Cassell had eight singles and drove in 10 runs as the Tigers handled the Vikings 23-11 in the first game and 15-3 in the second.

In the first game, Cassell singled five times and drove in five runs. Roliza Dewitt had a double, two singles and four runs batted in.

Chantel Parker had three singles and two runs batted in and Tasha Amero singled and drove in three runs for East Grand of Danforth.

In the second game, Cassell singled three times and had two RBIs and Dewitt drove in two runs with a single.

Ryanne Flannery had three singles and two RBIs while Parker doubled, singled and drove in a run for the Vikings.
