In response to what Rick Robinson (BDN letter, May 13) wrote concerning the Maine Sports Complex article (BDN, May 3-4), I am disappointed in the attitude that a small but vocal group has taken toward such a fantastic facility.
The Maine Sports Complex has brought to the Bangor area a much-needed venue for multi-sport events, as well as a world-class gentleman in complex manager Peter Madigan. Robinson suggests that funds are not accounted for from the winter season, and that Madigan is not fit to be the proprietor of “The Bubble.” The original article names a short list of creditors that are owed money, but doesn’t mention how much of the winter profits have gone to bring those debts down to the current level.
The Greater Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce exists to promote and advance a healthy, vital regional business community. Let’s encourage Madigan to achieve these goals and stop uninformed readers from creating a bad name for local business.
