BOYS

Big School (Classes A-B)

JOSH WITHEE

Withee, a junior on the Foxcroft Academy baseball team, pitched a perfect game in a 3-0 win over Caribou on May 17. The lefthander had 14 strikeouts in the game.

Small School (Classes C-D)

COLE AVERILL

The Mattanawcook of Lincoln senior qualified for the state Class C championships in the shot put and discus in a meet at Presque Isle. Averill’s shot put of 44 feet bettered the mandatory minimum by two feet. He threw the discus 127 feet which is eight feet longer than the mandatory minimum. Averill also had a personal javelin throw of 126-10.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

BRACEY BARKER

The MDI senior led the Trojan softball team to a two-game sweep of Orono Saturday. Barker tripled, doubled, and hit two singles in a 12-2 win in the opener, then pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and added a two-run triple in a 10-0 win.

Small School (Classes C-D)

ERIN MOAKLER

Moakler, at senior at Greater Houlton Christian Academy, earned her third straight trip to the state tennis singles semifinals Saturday. The defending state singles champion won first- and second-round matches and a quarterfinal match by default. As a member of the GHCA softball team Moakler had four hits in a 15-10 victory over Southern Aroostook Monday.
