Carlos, Plourde power Machias past East Grand

DANFORTH – Chris Carlos doubled in a pair of runs to kick off a four-run, sixth-inning rally as Machias edged East Grand 4-3 Wednesday in high school baseball action.

Carlos advanced to third on a passed ball, on which the tying run scored, then scampered home on another passed ball to provide the winning margin.

Ed St. Pierre hit two singles for the winners, and Nate Plourde doubled and gave up no runs on three hits after being touched for three runs in the first. He fanned 15 and walked just 3.

Richard Byers knocked a two-run single for the Vikings. Chris Irish had three singles, and Scott Flannery doubled and singled.

WA Raiders 19, Jonesport-Beals 5

At East Machias, Steven Colbeth drove in two runs on a triple, a double and a single as Washington Academy rolled.

James Ramsdell tallied three RBIs on two singles for the Raiders. Reo Kawai singled twice and had two RBIs and Adam Hall hit two singles and had an RBI.

Charlie Chandler led the Royals with three RBIs on a double and a single.

At Calais, Chad Pike pitched a complete game and hit two singles with two RBIs as the Dragons prevailed.

Jeremy Gillespie knocked a two-run triple for the winners.

Nick Seelye smashed a solo homer for the Blue Devils and Ricky Price had two singles, a double and two RBIs.

At East Sullivan, Matt Wood and Travis Jordan each hit an RBI double as the Eagles prevailed.

Nick Putnam laced a triple for Ellsworth and Asa Jones added a double and a single.

Trevor Renwick smacked a solo homer to go with an RBI single for the Tigers, and Jeff Burditt knocked a two-run double.

At Harrington, Cory Worcester gave up only one run, four hits, and no walks while striking out 10 as the Knights Narraguagus upset the Tigers.

Jon Fickett tripled with two RBIs and scored a run for Narraguagus and Worcester had a RBI double. Owen Fickett doubled and scored a run and Sean Reynolds hit a RBI single.

Josh Francis had three singles and scored Shead of Eastport’s only run and Teddy Cummings singled.

At Thorndike, Joe Clark scored the game-winning run in the seventh inning on a Mount View error to give Lincoln Academy the upset win.

Ben Buckland hit a pair of singles for the Eagles of Newcastle and Patrick Howell and Brent Rainey each doubled.

Kenton Spaulding hit a three-run home run in the third inning for the Mustangs and Marc McCorrison had three singles.

At Danforth, the Tigers took advantage of six Vikings errors en route to the win.

Sarah Maker had two singles and an RBI, Christi Holmes had two singles and Katrina Rudd singled and drove in two runs.

Paula Osnoe had two singles and two runs batted in, Tasha America had a single and two RBIs and Stephanie Osnoe singled twice for East Grand.

At Pittsfield, Kate Ross singled to center to knock in two runs including the winning run in Ashley Bryant to give Belfast the come-from-behind win.

Morgan Crandall had a two-run homer in the seventh and a single for Belfast and Nicole Hubbard hit a home run and a double with a RBI. Kate Ross tripled and singled with three RBIs and Lauren Overlock had two singles.

Megan Ferlund hit a three-run and two-run homer for Maine Central Institute and Autumn Hendricks had a RBI single.

At Calais, Amanda Brown doubled, singled and knocked in three runs as the Blue Devils topped the Dragons.

Megan Lord paced Woodland with a double, a single and two RBIs. Nikki Lazzaro, Kelsy Snowman and Katie Holmes each singled twice.

Daphne Nichols hit a RBI double for Washington Academy. Stef Almendinger had a pair of singles with two RBIs and Justine Ramsdell hit two singles.

At Searsport, the Vikings rallied for three runs in the sixth inning to edge the Patriots of Milo.

Lindsey Seekins led off with a single, followed by a single by Megan Brassbridge. Tara Lee Webster and Theresa Cameron notched back-to-back RBI singles, and Sheila Wilbur knocked in the winning run with a sacrifice hit. Webster allowed just three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Erika Morrill, Ashlei McMahon and Michelle Mulherin had a double apiece for Penquis.
