Crusaders earn sweep of Tigers

VAN BUREN – Jeremy Chasse slammed a two-run homer and added an RBI single as the Van Buren baseball team earned an 11-9 win in the first game of the doubleheader against Fort Fairfield Wednesday in high school action. The Crusaders took the second game 15-9.

In the first game, Matt Gagnon smacked two doubles and Tyler Hews two singles for Van Buren, and Andrew Martin added two singles and an RBI.

Kris Osgood knocked a two-run homer for the Tigers and Shea Armstrong doubled, singled and knocked in a run.

In the second game, Chasse collected four singles and drove in four runs as the Crusaders earned the sweep.

Sean Violette had three singles with an RBI for the winners, Hews doubled and laced an RBI triple, and Mike Corbin had two singles.

Aaron Kenneson had three singles with an RBI for Fort Fairfield and Osgood singled three times, doubled and plated two runs.

At Saint Agatha, Brandon Millett scored the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning on an error to win it for the Hornets.

Millett had two doubles and a single with three RBIs for Ashland and Allan O’Clair hit three singles.

Brad Thibeault hit a double and two singles to knock in a run for the Pioneers. Chris Pelletier hit two singles with three RBIs.

Cen. Aroostook 12, Madawaska 6

At Madawaska, Eric Grivois doubled in a run and added another double as the Panthers doubled up the Owls.

Brandon Hallett collected two doubles, a single and an RBI for Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.

Gil Cyr had two doubles to lead Madawaska. Peter Gerard had a double and a single, Paul Roy doubled and singled and Eric Jandreau singled twice.

Caribou 16, Fort Kent 1

At Fort Kent, Justin Selfridge hit two three-run home runs and a solo home run to lead the Vikings to the win.

Ryan Rogers hit a three-run home run and a single for Caribou. Corey Johnston had a two-run homer in the second inning and John Chasse had a solo shot in the fifth.

Adam Jandreau hit three singles for Fort Kent and Gib Michaud had a RBI single in the first inning.

At Danforth, Chris Carlos doubled in a pair of runs to kick off a four-run sixth inning rally for the Bulldogs.

Carlos advanced to third on a passed ball, on which the tying run scored, then scampered home on another passed ball to provide the winning margin.

Ed St. Pierre hit two singles for the winners, and Nate Plourde doubled and gave up no runs on three hits after being touched for three runs in the first. He fanned 15 and walked just 3.

Richard Byers knocked a two-run single for the Vikings. Chris Irish had three singles, and Scott Flannery doubled and singled.

At Lee, Gerry Worster allowed no earned runs and only three hits while striking out three and walking one to lift the Pandas.

Lee’s Nate Dow had two doubles and a single with three RBIs for the Pandas and Jeremy Ham hit two singles with two RBIs. Hyun sung Ro and Andrew Stevens each had two singles.

Gabe Hrynick hit an RBI single for the Cougars of Sherman Station. Jordan Qualey and Cam Cunningham each singled.

At Madawaska, Ellie Arato hit for the cycle and also had another single, driving in four runs, to pace Fort Fairfield’s 26-hit attack.

Maranda Butler knocked in five runs with a triple, double and two singles and Brooke McCrum drove in four runs with a triple and two singles.

Winning pitcher Brittney Guiou had a triple and two singles with an RBI and Kayle Searles had three singles.

Andrea K. Cyr, Liz Clavette and Andrea M. Cyr had two singles each for Madawaska. Andrea K. Cyr had two RBIs.

At Mars Hill, Danielle Kelly hit a grand slam and two singles with five RBIs to lead Greater Houlton Christian Academy to the win.

Sara Jago had a solo home run, double, and a single with four RBIs for the Eagles. Lacey Farrar hit two singles with a RBI and Lauren Cook doubled and singled with a RBI.

Andi Long had a triple, double, and two singles with three RBIs for Central Aroostook. Jessica Grew hit a two-run homer and a single with four RBIs and Brittany Collins had four singles. Stevi Fletcher hit three singles with a RBI and Brittany Lundeen had a double and two singles with three RBIs. Jocelyn Carvell had a pair of singles and a double with two RBIs and Sami Brewer had two singles with two RBIs.

At Van Buren, Lindsey Beaulieu and Nikki Michaud each hit two home runs to lead the Limestone Eagles to the win.

Beaulieu also doubled while Michaud added a single. Ashley Posey hit a homer.

Amy Vaillancourt hit three singles and Lisa Levasseur hit a home run for the Crusaders.

At Fort Kent, Melissa Morneault had three singles with four RBIs to lead Fort Kent to the win.

Ashley Desjardins hit two singles and a double with two RBIs for the Warriors. Nicole Saucier an Meaghan Minzy both had a double and a single with three RBIs.

Makayla Gahagan doubled and singled for Caribou and Am Bouchard hit a RBI single in the fifth inning.

At St. Agatha, Pam Spooner shut down the Pioneers, giving up just one hit and two runs in five innings for the victorious Hornets.

Ashley Nemer led the offense with two doubles. Amber Smith had two singles and a double, and Angela Belskis doubled and single.

Robyn Dyment’s single was Wisdom’s lone hit.

Christi Holmes had two singles and Katrina Rudd singled and drove in two runs.

Paula Osnoe had two singles and two runs batted in, Tasha Amero had a single and two RBIs and Stephanie Osnoe singled twice for East Grand.
