AUGUSTA – An Augusta man has pleaded guilty to a drug conspiracy charge for his role in claiming a 20-pound package of marijuana from a local mailing center.

Todd Henderson, 31, entered the plea Tuesday in Kennebec County Superior Court in exchange for a prosecutor’s recommendation that he spend only 10 days in jail.

As part of the deal, Henderson has agreed to testify against a co-defendant, Hans Peaslee, 31, of West Gardiner, who was indicted in October on charges of trafficking in marijuana, conspiracy to traffic in scheduled drugs and criminal forfeiture.

The marijuana shipment addressed to Peaslee was delivered to his home on Aug. 29, hours after police intercepted the package and arrested Henderson, authorities said.

State drug agents estimated the street value of the marijuana at $50,000.
