East Holden man hurt in Bucksport accident

BUCKSPORT – An East Holden man was injured Thursday in a single-car crash on Route 46.

Michael Kashie, 23, was headed south on Route 46 at about 5 p.m. when the accident occurred, according to Bucksport Police Officer Robbie Findlay.

Kashie was traveling near Long Pond about two miles past the town line when he apparently lost control of his vehicle.

It looked like he may have drifted off one side of the road, overcorrected on a curve and then traveled off the opposite side of the road and into an embankment. Although injured, Kashie was able to crawl from the vehicle and was lying on the side of the road when rescue workers arrived.

He was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment of undetermined injuries. Findlay said he did not have any information on his condition, but said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Kashie’s vehicle, a 1995 Dodge Neon, received an estimated $2,500 in damage in the accident.
