Gomm hurls Brewer to win

BREWER – Senior lefthander Chad Gomm struck out 17 and allowed just two hits and three walks over 6 2/3 innings to pitch the Brewer High School Witches to a 6-1 schoolboy baseball victory over Hampden Academy at Heddericg Field Thursday night.

Kevin McAvoy came on to get the final out, stranding two runners.

Kevin Kotredes singled, stole second and eventually scored on a wild pitch to break a 2-2 tie in the fourth.

Andrew Patterson’s two-run single highlighted a four-run sixth inning that supplied Gomm with plenty of insurance.

Zac Bouzan-Kaloustian had an RBI single for the winners while Pat Moran and Billy Shannon singled for Hampden.

Moran pitched five innings of four-hit, two-run ball for Hampden, striking out six and walking one.

Bucksport 6, Orono 3

At Bucksport, Andy Wentworth fanned 10 in a complete-game effort for the Golden Bucks.

Robbie Pushard stroked an RBI single for Bucksport and Jake Knight had two singles.

Dusty Thomas had two singles with an RBI for the Red Riots and Ryan Levesque notched an RBI single.

Dexter 10, Central 0

At Dexter, Chris Rabideau fired a one-hitter, striking out three and walking two, and he had a run-scoring triple in a six-run fourth inning that broke open a close game.

Eric Day had a two-run single in the fourth, Jason Clukey had an RBI double and Kyle Stone singled home a run as Dexter avenged a 4-3 loss.

Rabideau tripled and singled while Clukey and Stone each doubled and singled.

Joey Kane’s sixth-inning single was Central’s only hit.

Forest Hills 11, Greenville 6

At Greenville, Rob Forge’s two-run single highlighted a four-run fifth-inning rally that broke a 4-4 tie and gave Forest Hills of Jackman the lead for good.

Tim Talpey had two singles and drove in three runs for Forest Hills and Seth Brady had two singles. Roger Paradise went the distance for the win.

Griz Aucoin homered and doubled and drove in three runs for Greenville and Anthony Lavigne contributed a double and two singles.

Ellsworth 11, John Bapst 4

At Husson College, Asa Jones stroked three singles and knocked in three runs to lead the Eagles past the Crusaders.

Matt Wood plated two runs on three singles for Ellsworth, and Travis Jordan smacked a two-run double.

Pat Healey led John Bapst with a two-run single, and Josh Keefe added a double.

At Houlton, Nick Simon smacked a bases-loaded triple in the top of the seventh to tie the game, and he later scored the game-winning run as the Minutemen rallied.

Simon added another RBI single for Stearns of Millinocket, which took advantage of nine walks and nine errors.

Jon Weston doubled, singled and drove in a run in the sixth for the Shiretowners. Andy Brown hit two singles. Corey Lewis and Jordan Hill combined to allow just five hits.

At Hermon, Abbie Chapman laced three singles as the Trojans edged the Hawks.

Bracey Barker knocked a single and a double for the winners, and Jessica Norwood and Stephanie Shuster had a single apiece.

Rachel Nightingale tripled to spark Hermon. Shannon Wiggin tripled and singled, and Cassie White added two singles.

At Dexter, Shawna Bell and Sami Daniels each had an RBI single as the Red Devils of Corinth prevailed.

Jenny Rollins and Nicole Daniels had a double apiece for Central.

Cristy McGowen’s RBI double and Nikki Chapman’s RBI single led the Tigers. Sara Wyman doubled and singled, and Sarah Carnes had a triple, single and drove in a run.

At Husson College in Bangor, Gwen Wadleigh tossed a seven-hitter, striking out three and walking two, and Jill Mitchell tripled, doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs as John Bapst upended visiting Ellsworth.

Heather Laferriere and Rebecca Stevens had RBI doubles in a seven-run second inning and Gwen Carter and Ashley Cluff had run-scoring singles.

Cluff also had a triple and Stevens had a single in the game.

Tess Bickford and Victoria Jones had two singles each for Ellsworth.

At Bucksport, junior righthander Nikki Smith allowed only three hits and one walk while striking out 12 to help Bucksport win its 11th.

Jen Murauckas singled twice and had two RBIs for the winners while Elissa Gordon added two singles and Tara Tweedie tripled.

Michelle Benoit doubled and singled for Orono.

Greenville sweeps Forest Hills

At Greenville, Michaella Bartley hit a solo home run and singled twice to give Greenville a 16-10 win in the first game, and Diane Aucoin hit a solo homer, triple and single in the second game for a 16-2 win and the sweep.

Laura Blair chipped in with two singles and a triple for Greenville in the first game while Aucoin and Skylar Towle each added two singles.

Naomi Stevens singled twice for Forest Hills of Jackman.

Sisters Darcie and Darla Larsen each homered for the Lakers in the second game. Kelly Bolen and Bartley each added two singles.

Kristie Krukowski had an RBI single for Forest Hills.
