WASHBURN – Principal Rick Bragg has announced the honor parts for Washburn District High School, Class of 2003.
Kristi Lynn Fitzpatrick, daughter of Bruce and Diane Fitzpatrick, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2003. She will attend the University of Maine at Presque Isle to study business management-management information systems and minor in accounting.
Her academic honors include the highest academic average during her four years, school citizenship award, student of the month, Maine Principal’s Award recipient, about 90 percent academic average award, and highest average in physical science, college English I, French I, health, geometry, French II, algebra II, world history, college English III, college U.S. history, chemistry, advanced math, calculus and college government.
She participated in soccer and junior varsity basketball and was a varsity boys basketball manager, yearbook editor, class secretary/treasurer, senior class president, Dirigo Girls State delegate, National Honor Society secretary-treasurer, and church youth group president. She also participated in band, pep band, chorus, Civil Rights team, Students Against Substance Abuse, prom committee, varsity club, French club, yearbook ad sales, student council, All-Aroostook Band, Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership, senior service day, Destination Imagination, United Methodist Church instrumental group and Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp. She was a member of the administrative council and served as lector.
Ashley Dawn Thibodeau, daughter of Daniel and Patricia Thibodeau, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2003. She will attend the University of Maine at Presque Isle to study behavioral sciences and minor in criminal justice.
Her academic honors include poetry award, honor roll, AAA honor roll, student of the month, computer education award, letters from senator on academics, drama studios award, academic letter and pin, above 90 percent academic award, school citizenship award, and high academic achievement in accounting I and anatomy-physiology.
She participated in the National Honor Society, French club, Internet club, art club, drama club, prom committee, volleyball, senior play, tae kwan do, community service and Christian youth ministry. She was a junior varsity girls soccer manager, varsity girls basketball manager, and a library aide.
