BANGOR – A Bangor man was charged with domestic assault after he reportedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend at Hannaford on Broadway. Becky Bickford, 27, of Stillwater went to the Bangor Police Station and told police that Cory Sargent, 25, had confronted her at the store. After calling her a vulgar name, Sargent allegedly flicked a lit cigarette at her left eye.
Bickford showed Officer William Lawrence paint marks on the back of her sweatshirt where Sargent reportedly pushed her into the car door, which she said scraped her back.
Bickford told Lawrence Sargent had previously been convicted of domestic assault against her four years ago. Sargent, who was already at Penobscot County Jail after being arrested on a warrant for failure to pay a fine on a theft charge, denied assaulting Bickford, according to police reports.
Sargent was charged with domestic assault and ordered not to have any contact with Bickford. He is scheduled to appear at Bangor District Court on June 30.
