NEWPORT – Principal Daniel Mills has announced the honor parts for the Nokomis Regional High School Class of 2003. Commencement exercises will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8.
David Buzanoski, son of Edward and Monique Buzanoski of Newport, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2003. He will attend Tufts University to study biology with a pre-med focus and continue on to medical school.
He is a National Merit Scholar recipient and is involved in the University of Maine Aspirations Program for academically motivated high school students, who take college-level courses while still in high school. He is taking five courses, 18 credit hours at the University of Maine as a senior at Nokomis. He has been involved with the drama club, soccer, basketball, track, peer mediation and National Honor Society.
Heather Meyers, daughter of Thomas and Cynthia Meyers of Corinna, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2003. She will attend Colby College to study liberal arts.
She has been involved in the jazz chorus, show chorus and band. She is in the National Honor Society, participates in peer mediation and writes for the school newspaper.
