BREWER – Wendy M. L. Libby of Brewer has recently written “Using Stories to Make Art,” published by Delmar Thompson Learning.

The book promotes the integration of art and children’s literature, with extension activities in science, social studies, language arts, math and other studies. Artwork done by pupils appear for more than 50 activities presented in the book.

Libby has been an art teacher at Fruit Street School in Bangor for 25 years. Recently, she was a workshop facilitator for Crayola Dream Makers at the Maine Discovery Museum. She has also been an artist in residence with SAD 48 in Newport.

Her next book, Libby said, will focus on multicultural art activities. She is also working on illustrating a children’s book written by a friend. Other books by Libby are “Using Art to Make Art” and “Enriching the Curriculum with Art Activities,” also published by Delmar Thompson Learning.
