PORTLAND – Home prices in Maine continued to soar last month while the number of sales dipped nearly 5 percent.

Maine’s Realtors sold 913 homes in April, down from 957 homes in the same month last year, according to the Maine Association of Realtors. The median sale price was $150,400, an increase of just more than 11 percent. Half the homes sold for less and half for more than the median price.

Nationally, last month’s sales were the fifth-highest ever recorded. Sales increased 3.2 percent and median home prices rose 6.8 percent, to $163,400.
