Pine Hill firmly in the family Owners say rumors of sale are unfounded

Once again, Pam Foss and her sister, Candice Morrill, and brother, Bob Little Jr., are battling the rumor mill, and they’d like to put a stop to it, Foss said.

The three own Pine Hill Golf Club in Brewer, and the rumors started early that they were selling the golf course, or already had.

“I don’t know who started it, but I’d like to find them,” said Foss, who along with her siblings inherited the course on the death of her father, Bob Little, in 2001.

“Even before we opened, I was getting calls at home,” she said. “I don’t know why anybody would start those rumors, but I want to set everybody straight.”

Last year, similar rumors surfaced. Foss said then that she and her sister and brother would wait 10 years before deciding if they would sell. Nothing has changed.

“We are here, and we’re going to stay here,” she said.

As much as she would like to ignore the rumors, Foss feels she can’t.

“It’s rumors, but it’s rumors that can hurt your business,” she said.

“The only thing we have done is we have some family land we are selling,” said Foss. The land that’s for sale is a piece next to the family homestead and a piece next to the golf course.

She knows that can’t have sparked the rumors because they started that process after the rumors surfaced.

The idea for the property next to the golf course was that it would be used to expand the nine-hole facility to 18 holes, but they had decided to concentrate on the current setup. That was the major factor in the decision to sell.

“I’m tired of paying taxes on property that we’re never going to use,” Foss said.
