Bangor police arrested a man and a woman Friday night on drug charges at Pray’s Mobile Home Park on the Finson Road and confiscated an undisclosed amount of cocaine and pharmaceuticals.
Scott Lord, 38, was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine, burglary and carrying a concealed weapon, according to Lt. Tim Reid. The Enfield man was arrested in 1993 for trafficking in marijuana after drug agents seized 58 marijuana plants from behind his home.
Cara Hussey, 21, was arrested on charges of trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine, escape and burglary, Reid said.
The pair were arrested around 6:30 p.m., according to Lt. Ron Gastia.
The woman had quantities of the drug consistent with street level trafficking of cocaine, he said.
Both Lord and Hussey were being held at Penobscot County Jail as of Friday night.
Other details of the arrest were not immediately available Friday night.
A late night drive through downtown landed a Bangor man in jail for drug charges and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants.
Around 1 a.m. Friday, Bangor Police Officer Rob Angelo watched a Subaru wagon with tinted rear windows turn onto Hammond Street from Franklin Street. The vehicle was traveling 35 mph in a 25 mph zone and Angelo pulled the vehicle over in front of Domino’s Pizza after it turned onto Clinton Street, according to the police report.
Angelo identified the driver as 23-year-old Chad Nelson and noticed the man had slurred speech and the vehicle smelled of intoxicating beverages, the report said.
After being unable to properly complete field sobriety tests, Nelson was arrested on charges of operating under the influence. Nelson registered a blood alcohol content of .18 on the Intoxilyzer and he was taken to Penobscot County Jail, the report said. A corrections officer searched Nelson and found a small plastic yellow tube with white powder on the bottom and residue in the top section.
When asked about the powder, according to the report Nelson replied, “This is my Vicodin, I have a prescription, well maybe not to snort it.”
Nelson was also charged with possession of a schedule W drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
An Orono woman was given a summons for drug paraphernalia Thursday night after calling the police to rid her home of woodland creatures.
Rachel Freedman, 22, called Orono police just before 9 p.m. to say that two squirrels had made their way into her apartment at 149 Main St. and were attacking her cat. Officers Scott Wilcox and Nathan Jamo arrived a short time later and were invited in by Freedman.
While one of the squirrels was under the fridge, Wilcox left the door open and it ran out, he said. The officers began searching the apartment for the second animal when they noticed a glass marijuana pipe sitting on the coffee table, Wilcox said.
When Wilcox picked up the pipe, Freedman asked why he was looking through her belongings. Wilcox explained that the pipe was in plain view and that she had invited them into the apartment.
According to Wilcox, the woman then replied, “you are invited to leave.”
After issuing Freedman a summons, the officers left. The second squirrel wasn’t located.
