PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Granite Bank, based in Keene, will merge with Ocean National Bank of Kennebunk, Maine, in a move that’s expected to lead to the closing of some branches around the state.

The two banks will consolidate their executive offices at a new location in downtown Portsmouth and merge by early next year under the Ocean National Bank name.

Both banks are owned by the Vermont-based Chittenden Corp.
