2-car crash blamed on missed stop sign Belfast library slates book sale in June

ROCKLAND – A two-vehicle accident Monday night near the industrial park injured four people when one car failed to stop at a stop sign.

At 7 p.m. Monday, Michael McMahan, 34, of Rockland was driving north heading out of Gordon Drive from the industrial park in a 1994 Saturn. He failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the driver’s side of a 2003 Hyundai that was traveling west on Thomaston Street.

Russell Lane, 18, of LaGrange was driving the Hyundai. He and his passenger, Trevor Lyons, 17, of Rockland, were wearing seat belts, as were McMahan and his passenger, Ruth Crandall, 34, of Rockland.

Damage to Lane’s car was estimated at $6,500, and McMahan’s, $3,600, Daniels said.

According to police Sgt. Lloyd Daniels, both drivers and two passengers complained of pain.

The officer said he didn’t know whether anyone was summoned.
