ROCKLAND – Justin Kirk singled home Josh Davis in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the No. 6 Rockland Tigers to a 2-1 schoolboy baseball prelim win over the No. 11 Erskine Academy Eagles Tuesday.
Davis had reached base on a fielder’s choice, stole second, and moved to third on an infield single before Kirk delivered him.
Adam Ross tossed a two-hitter for the Tigers, striking out 20 and walking six.
Wade Oliver posted a double and single for Rockland, and Kirk had two singles and an RBI.
Ben Powell and Jody Jose each singled for the Eagles.

At Skowhegan, Jared Walker scored on an error by Lane Meehan as the No. 5 Indians edged Hampden in 11 innings.
Walker led off the 11th with a single, advanced to third on Nate Goff’s double, and eventually scampered home on the error.
Walker finished with two singles, and Brandon Hamilton added two singles for Skowhegan.
For the No. 12 Broncos, Chris Pease laced a solo homer to tie the score in the seventh and scored on a John Higgins single in the fifth.

Chris Rand hit two singles for Old Town, and Andy Pease and Ryan Brown each hit an RBI single.
Messalonskee’s win set up a Wednesday quarterfinal showdown with the top-ranked Bangor Rams at Mansfield Stadium at 4:15 p.m.
The game is being played Wednesday instead of Thursday because Messalonskee’s graduation is being held on Thursday.
