The AAA-List

You don’t have to wait for your car to break down to enjoy a meal at one of AAA’s Four Diamond Award winning restaurants. The American Automobile Association of Northern New England has announced its Maine choices, which have set themselves apart for “consistently delivering premier experiences, complete with superior personal service, first-class amenities, and impressive surroundings,” according to AAANNE president and CEO Tom Kinley. The winners include Arrows Restaurant in Ogunquit, Marcel’s at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, Michelle’s Fine Dining in Bar Harbor, Primo in Rockland and The Rose Garden in Bar Harbor (pictured). Perfect pairings

Oenophiles and foodies unite – the Castine Inn will hold a Kermit Lynch Wine Dinner starting at 6 p.m. Sunday. Chef Tom Gutow has prepared a menu to match wine selections by Lynch , a renowned importer and author. Among the pairings is a course of Atlantic Halibut with Mussels, Cherrystone Clams, Leeks, New Potatoes and a Chive Broth, served with Vieux Telegraphe Mas du Pape Blanc 2001, and Domaine Joncier Lirac Rouge 2000. The dinner, which includes five courses, each paired with wine, costs $90 per person, including tax and gratuity. For information or reservations, call 326-4365.

Atkins, anyone?

For all of you who are avoiding carbohydrates such as the plague, O’ So Lo Foods has developed a product that will let you have your bread and eat it too.
