A woman was charged with burglary, attempted unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and attempted OUI Thursday evening after being chased through the woods in Bangor.
Erica Mitchell, 22, of Bangor attempted to steal a 1996 Ford Explorer from a garage on Vermont Avenue in Bangor at 7 p.m., according to police reports. The resident of the home told police she discovered her car running in her garage with the doors closed. Two acquaintances visiting the home went outside to investigate and saw Mitchell running away, according to the report by Officer James Dearing. The owner of the car called police while her acquaintances chased the woman into nearby woods. Police later met up with the three on Dunning Boulevard.
Two sets of remote car starters and keys were stolen from both vehicles and were never recovered, according to the report.
Two women received summonses for theft at J.C. Penney in the Bangor Mall at 5 p.m. Thursday. Melissa Jamo, 20, of Bangor and Julie Gagnon, whose age and residence were not available, were observed on a store surveillance camera by loss prevention officer James Kilton, according to a report by Bangor police Officer William Lawrence.
