HARRINGTON – Principal Peter Doak has announced honor parts for the Class of 2003 at Narraguagus High School in Harrington. Graduation exercises were Friday, June 6, in the Charles F. Lawrence Gymnasium.
Allison Sawyer, daughter of John and Pamela Sawyer of Columbia Falls, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2003. She will attend Bates College to study pre-medicine.
She is president of the student government, secretary of the French club, a spirit leader and a member of the National Honor Society, math league, outdoor club, varsity club, and the SWAT team (peer tutoring group). Among the many awards and honors she has received are: Girls State representative, HOBY Youth Seminar Ambassador, University of Maine’s Maine Scholar Award, Maine Principal’s Award recipient, Society of Women Engineers Award and the Exemplary Student Athlete Award. She was voted as an all-state First Team player and Downeast Athletic Conference all-star in volleyball. She won the Eastern Maine foul shooting competition in basketball. She also participated in track and field.
Hilary Martin, daughter of Kenneth and Janet Martin of Addison, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2003. She will attend Smith College in Massachusetts.
She is a member of the math league, spirit leaders, French club, National Honor Society, and bridge coalition. She was captain of the cross-country team and co-captain of the indoor tack team and participated in cheering and track and field.
