EAST MACHIAS – Headmaster Judson McBrine has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2003. Graduation exercises were scheduled for Monday, June 9, in the Gardner Gymnasium.

Stafany Almendinger, daughter of John and Susan Almendinger of Machiasport, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2003. She will attend Bates College to study biochemistry.

She has been president of the National Honor Society, math team captain, Spear speaking participant, peer tutor, and a member of the student council. She has been involved in cross-country, basketball and softball. She was named a Downeast Athletic Conference all-star her last two years in softball and in cross-country three of her four years in that sport. She received the Maine Principal’s Award and was a World Affairs Seminar representative.

Kathryn Bridgham, daughter of Gary and Tina Bridgham of East Machias, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2003. She will attend Gateway College of Evangelism in Missouri.

She has participated in Spear speaking, peer tutoring and the math team. She was named a National Merit Scholar and has been an active member in her church youth group and choir.
