Former University of Maine standout catcher Alain Picard has signed a contract with the Quebec Les Capitales of the Northeast League. Picard, 22, recently completed his career with the Black Bears as a designated hitter.
The two-time All-America East selection was a first-team pick this spring as a designated hitter. Picard, a 6-foot, 205-pounder from Ste.-Foy, Quebec, batted .321 with six home runs and a league-best 50 runs batted in.
Picard was unable to catch this season after undergoing shoulder surgery last summer.
