FALMOUTH – Maine-based Banknorth Group dedicated a new office building in Falmouth that will bring together 500 workers currently scattered across 17 locations in Portland.
The three-story building, which spans 140,000 square feet and is the largest office structure in Falmouth, will rival the 600 workers employed at Bank-north’s primary operations center in Lewiston.
CEO William J. Ryan and other top executives will stay at the company’s corporate headquarters, where 500 Banknorth employees will continue to reside at two office buildings in downtown Portland.
The Falmouth building has a gym and fitness center, outdoor running trails, a large lunchroom, private dining room, dry cleaning services and plenty of parking. In addition, a METRO bus stop is located outside the facility.
Banknorth, which is ranked among the nation’s 35 largest commercial banks, has 2,500 workers in Maine and another 5,500 in five other states.
Its subsidiaries include Peoples Heritage in Maine, Bank of New Hampshire, Banknorth Massachusetts, Banknorth Vermont, Banknorth Connecticut and Evergreen Bank in upstate New York.
