a The annual American Legion Dirigo Boys and Girls State program will be held the week of June 15-20. The boys program will be held at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, and the girls will meet at Husson College in Bangor.

The delegates are Maine high school juniors, sponsored by local organizations, who will participate in mock government sessions and elections to learn about the operation of municipal and state government.

Gov. John Baldacci will speak to both groups, numbering 385 boys and 400 girls. U.S. Rep. Michael Michaud of Maine’s 2nd Congressional District will speak at Maine Maritime Academy, and U.S. Sen. Susan Collins of Maine will speak at the girls program.
