Hang Time is still hanging in there at Bangor all-sports radio station WZON (620 AM), but changes will be forthcoming.

That’s the word from program director Dale Duff, who is sticking with the current show format even after the departure of longtime host Dan Hannigan, who is setting up his own audio-video production business in Southern Maine.

“We don’t really have any solid plans or changes right now,” said Duff. “It’s one of those things where people are going to be getting plugged in here and there as we have people off, and work on what it is we’d like to do for a show next fall.”

Hang Time is WZON’s live, afternoon call-in show, which airs from 4 to 6 p.m. weekdays and features sports talk, scores, and guests.

Currently, Scott Sassone, who calls the action for WZON’s University of Maine women’s basketball broadcasts, and Chris Shorette, who hosts UMaine halftime and intermission shows for WZON, are producing and hosting the show.

Even with his new job, Hannigan says he will continue to be the radio play-by-play voice of University of Maine hockey, as he has been for the last eight years.

Steve Strout moved down to Nashville, Tenn., and he moved down there after getting a job offer from a record label or publishing company down there after visiting his girlfriend.

“Jeff Solari did it for three years and then Steve was with us for two or three years. Scott took over last season.”

“It’s not really like he’s going to have gone once September and October roll around because he’ll be back doing Maine hockey and that’s a very prominent thing.”

Pierce goes Beyond the Glory

Fox Sports Net New England will try to uncover “The Truth” about Boston Celtics star forward Paul Pierce.

The former Los Angeles Lakers fan is the focus of the latest installment of Beyond the Glory, Fox Sports Net’s award-winning documentary series.

The one-hour show debuts Sunday at 8 p.m. It chronicles the 25-year-old Inglewood, Calif., native’s life from his childhood through his college days at the University of Kansas to his Celtics career. Everything from his stabbing at a Boston nightclub and its consequences to Pierce’s love for the Lakers – “I hated [the Celtics] growing up,” says Pierce in one interview – as a youth is examined in the special, which also features interviews with Celtics teammate Tony Battie, former Celtics coach Rick Pitino and current coach Jim O’Brien.
