Martin Kariya and Gray Shaneberger were each named Distinguished Scholars and have received All-Academic honors each of the last four years. Todd Jackson received the honor for the third year. Frank Doyle was selected to the Academic All-Star Team as well as the All-Academic Team with the highest grade point average among Hockey East goaltenders. Freshman Steve Mullin received honors for the first time.

For the women’s team, senior forward Raffi Wolf was named to the Academic All-Star Team while freshmen Morgan Janusc and Vicky Johnstone were selected to the All-Academic Team. In addition, Laura Maddin, Karen Droog, Dawn Froats, Cailee Heggestad and Jarin Sjogren all represent Maine on the team.

To be eligible for the distinction, players must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in each of the two academic periods during which the team was competing.
