Mainers solid at NE meet Greely’s Ben True places first in 1,600

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Mount Ararat’s Jessie Wilcox, Ben True of Greely, Levi Miller of Belfast and Foxcroft Academy’s Brandon Hall were among the athletes with top finishes at the New England Track and Field Championships Saturday at Willow Brook Park.

Wilcox led the Eagles of Topsham’s 3,200-meter relay team to a third-place finish. She also placed sixth in the 800 and third in the 1,600.

MacKenzie Rawcliffe of Hampden finished 15th in the triple jump, 22nd in the long jump, and 23rd in the 300 hurdles. Caribou’s Lindsay Burlock earned a 12th-place finish in the 400 and a 19th in the 200.

Cassie Hintz of Old Town earned a 10th-place finish in the 3,200 run. Nokomis of Newport’s Kristina Gonzales was 15th in the javelin. Hampden’s Oriana Farley came in 18th in the 800 and teammate Molly Balentine was 18th in the 1,600. Central of Corinth’s Courtney Hersey took 19th in the 400. John Bapst of Bangor’s Katie Andrle and Maranacook of Readfield’s Lia Prysunka finished 11th and 15th, respectively, in the 300 hurdles.

Messalonskee of Oakland’s Chelsea Thibeault was 17th in the 200. Teammate Hana Pellitier took 13th in the 400 and 22nd in the 800.

Greely of Cumberland’s True was the champion in the 1,600 in a time of 4:12.28. Miller took third in the 3,200 and Hall was sixth in the high jump.

Ellsworth’s Joey Dewitt placed eighth in the 800 and 13th in the 1,600. Old Town’s 400 relay squad was 17th and Belfast’s 1,600 relay finished 17th. The Edward Little of Auburn 3,200 relay finished second, with Maranacook 14th and Hall-Dale of Farmingdale 18th in that event.

Kalle Eko of Old Town was 11th and Adam Standley was 17th, respectively, in long jump. Eko was also eighth in the triple jump and Standley’s teammate Tim Niles was 14th.
