Back the ‘Jacks
I would like to thank the Bangor Lumberjacks for coming to town.
The employees are helpful and courteous and the entertainment is good, clean fun. The quality of play is getting better with each game and the competition is as good as it gets. The price is a bargain.
If you want to spend an enjoyable three hours out with your family, come to a Lumberjacks baseball game for a real good time.
I don’t mind the drive to Orono, but let’s get the ‘Jacks to Bangor, it will be good for the area.
One last word for those who may have negative thoughts, attend the game. Try it, you might like it!

Red Sox errors
On Page C8 (BDN, June 10), the story “Cards back at Fenway for first time since ’67” contains substantive errors. Referring to the 1946 World Series, it states “The Sox lost the first two…” The Red Sox won Game 1 in St. Louis on a 10th-inning home run by first baseman Rudy York. Tex Hughson and Earl Johnson combined to beat the Cards.
After losing Game 2, Dave Ferriss shut the Cards out 4-0 at Fenway with York delivering another home run. St. Louis won Game 4 but Joe Dobson put the Red Sox ahead again with a solid pitching performance in Game 5. Back in St. Louis, Harry “the Cat” Brecheen of the Cards was the winning pitcher in both the sixth and seventh games.
