A Brewer man was arrested Monday morning after he passed out in a parked and running vehicle.

Brewer police Officer Jeff Gotreau said a concerned passer-by called police at about 11:15 a.m. to report a man was unconscious in a vehicle at the Irving Mainway store on North Main Street.

Gotreau said the man, Jonathan Coutts, 18, was still out when he arrived and that Coutts was holding a pill cutter in his hand.

Gotreau said he awakened Coutts and got him to leave the vehicle. When Gotreau began to search him, however, Coutts repeatedly tried to put his hands in his pockets. After several warnings Gotreau was able to handcuff Coutts, arresting him for failing to submit to detention. Gotreau said he found a large folding knife in Coutts’ pocket.

Coutts also was summoned for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hampden police arrested a Winterport man in Bangor after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend while she was driving.

Sgt. Dan Stewart said a Winterport woman told him she was driving north on Route 1A at about 11 a.m. Monday with her boyfriend and their infant when a dispute broke out.

The woman told Stewart that her boyfriend, Nicholas Perry, 21, punched her and pulled on the steering wheel, making the car lose control. Perry then punched and broke the windshield, Stewart said.

The woman told Stewart she pulled into a convenience store in Hampden and yelled for help. Perry took off on foot.

Stewart said he went to the Sea Dog restaurant in Bangor, where Perry worked, at about 1:30 p.m. with Bangor police Officer Martin McRae. He arrested Perry for domestic assault.

Perry later was bailed for $200 cash.

A Hampden man found his tool trailer in Bangor burglarized Monday morning.

Bangor police Officer Kerry Libby said the man told her he went to his work site on Outer Broadway at about 9:15 a.m. and found the side-door lock on his trailer smashed. The man said he had locked the trailer the night before.

Libby said a total of $2,080 worth of tools were taken, including a circular saw, a pneumatic nailer and a laser level.

There were no fingerprints; the case is being considered inactive.
