EASTON – A home near Route 1A was destroyed by fire Sunday evening after a domestic dispute, according to authorities.

Easton Fire Chief Kim White said Monday no one was hurt due to the fire but the Lamoreau Road house occupied by Kevin Rand, his wife and three children, was a total loss. The estimated value of the house, attached garage and vehicle parked inside it, which also were destroyed, was $60,000. The home was insured.

Rand’s wife, who had cuts and bruises resulting from the domestic altercation, was treated at The Aroostook Medical Center and released.

The fire is believed to be arson and state police are looking for Rand in connection with the event. State Trooper Robert Flynn said Rand is believed to have left the scene on an ATV, and since there were citizen sightings of Rand on Monday, he is believed to be in the area.

The call to police reporting the altercation was received at 7:45 p.m.; the call reporting the fire was received at 7:55 p.m.

Responding to the fire were 24 firefighters from Easton and six firefighters from Presque Isle. Crown Ambulance stood by. It took the crews three hours to contain the blaze and then the Easton crew stayed through the night to mop up.
