DOVER-FOXCROFT – James Gray gave up only one hit, no runs, and two walks while striking out nine to lead Penquis past Hampden 4-0 Tuesday in the opening night of American Legion baseball play.

Jason Weymouth doubled and singled with two RBIs for the Navigators. Adam Russell and Joey Kane each hit an RBI single.

Chris Pease had a single for the Riverdogs.

Orono-Old Town 6, Calais 3

At Old Town, Ryan Brown belted two home runs to lead the Orono-Old Town Twins to their opening day win over Calais.

Brown allowed only one walk, four hits, and three runs while striking out nine over six innings for the Twins. Ryan Levesque hit a two-run homer in the fifth and Jeff Miller had an RBI single.

Steve Colbeth hit a solo home run in the sixth inning for the Suns, and John MacDonald doubled.

At Lincoln, Ryan Bouchard gave up only three hits, one walk, and no runs while striking out eight to lead Lincoln to the win.

Scott Flannery hit a solo home run and a pair of singles with three RBIs for the Lumber. Matt Wark had a three-run homer in the third inning.

Justin Henderson and Matt Day each doubled for Houlton.

Waldo County 4, Bangor 3

At Bangor’s Mansfield Stadium, Tom Dennen’s two-run single with one out in the fifth inning enabled Waldo County to rally past Bangor.

Waldo was the home team as the Wildcats will be playing their home games at different sites this summer.

Chris Carman’s triple and Paul Herman’s infield single and stolen base set the stage for Dennen’s base hit.

Nick Larochelle’s two-run single keyed a three-run second-inning rally that staked Bangor to a 3-0 lead.

Two walks and two errors pulled Waldo within 3-2 in the third.

Carman and Bangor’s Josh Young both pitched five-hitters. Carman struck out five and walked three; Young fanned 10 and walked three.

Jordan Heath had two singles for Bangor.
